Winter Parking Ordinance
This is a friendly reminder to everyone in the community that residents must move their cars from the street in the Village of Wheeling when there is 2 inches or more snow on the ground. Cars must be moved from the street for eight hours after a snowfall of 2 inches or more for the village to plow snow away properly.
As you know, parking can be challenging at Lakeside Villas, but did you also know that when a vehicle is left on the street, it can block up to 3 parking spaces from being plowed? The Village will ticket any vehicle that is not legally parked, and if concoctions warrant, they can also tow the vehicle away at the owner's expense under this ordinance.
(a) It is unlawful to park any motor vehicle on any street within the village at any time within eight hours after a snowfall of two inches or more.

(b) For each succeeding snowfall of two inches or more, the provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall apply.

(c) Any motor vehicle parked in violation of subsection (a) of this section, may be towed away pursuant to Section 9.16.107 so that the streets can be plowed to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of this village.

(d) Fees charged for the towing service shall be paid by the owner of the vehicle before the vehicle is released.

(e) In the case of a major snow storm where vehicles may be blocking the streets thereby limiting emergency vehicle operations and safe travel, the chief of police may authorize relocation tows to designated areas within the village. Fees for relocation tows ordered pursuant to this section shall be paid by the owner of the vehicle before the vehicle is released.

(f) Signs stating "Parking Prohibited when there is two inches or more of snow on the street. Vehicles parking in violation will be towed" shall be posted clearly on every street or highway entering the village. Such signs need be posted only at each point of entrance to the village.
